Bamberg, South Carolina (January 2023) – On January 9, 2023, Bamberg County Council conducted its first meeting of 2023, and Dr. Jonathan Goodman of District 5 was elected Chair while Evert Comer of District 6 was elected Vice Chair. Councilwoman Sharon Hammond of District 2 and Vice Chair Evert Comer of District 6 were sworn in by Probate Judge Donna B. Brown for another four year term. Councilman Larry Haynes of District 3 was previously sworn in for another term on January 6. 

Outgoing Chairman Spencer Donaldson of District 4 was presented a service award by Chairman Goodman and remarked that he is grateful for the opportunity to have served as the Bamberg County Council Chairman and proud of the Council’s accomplishments over the last year. He said, “I look forward to continuing to work with Chairman Goodman, Vice Chairman Comer, County Administrator Joey Preston, and all other Council members as we work toward progress and prosperity for all Bamberg County citizens.”

Chairman Goodman said, “As we move into this new year, as the chairman, I look forward to working with the Council, the County Administrator, and the County constituents to make Bamberg County a great place to live, work, and grow.”

Vice Chairman Evert Comer expressed his excitement about how far Bamberg County has come over the last several years and believes “the best is yet to come in 2023.”
