Re: Bamberg County Councilman Spencer Donaldson Graduates from SC Institute of Government for County Officials (Level I)
Bamberg, South Carolina (August 2024) –We are pleased to announce that Bamberg County Councilman Spencer Donaldson graduated from the South Carolina Institute of Government Officials. Donaldson was presented with a certificate of completion at the annual SC Association of Counties (SCAC) Conference in Isle of Palms.
According to the SCAC website, “The Institute of Government for County Officials (the Institute) is a training program designed to equip county officials with the tools needed to enhance their skills and abilities to function more effectively in their positions. SCAC provides the Institute in cooperation with Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities at the College of Charleston. Clemson University’s Master of Public Administration Program is a sponsor of the Institute.”
To obtain a Level I credential, “County officials must attend 27 contact hours of instruction composed of six required courses (18 contact hours) and any three elective courses (9 contact hours) to graduate from Level I.”
District 4 Councilman Donaldson said he is “grateful for the opportunity to learn more about local government and to network with other SC leaders. I look forward to utilizing what I have learned from the Institute to benefit the great citizens of Bamberg County.”
Bamberg County Administrator Joey Preston said, “I appreciate Councilman Donaldson’s dedication to continued education and professional development. The Institute is an incredible resource, and I am happy members of the Bamberg County Council and Administration have taken advantage of it. We are thankful SCAC offers the program, and for all, they do to help us make Bamberg County a source of pride for its citizens.”
