Re: Bamberg County First in SC to Join Keep America Beautiful's "Greatest American Cleanup" Initiative
Bamberg, South Carolina (September 2024) – On September 9, 2024, during their regular monthly meeting, Bamberg County Council signed a Declaration of Action to join forces with the Keep America Beautiful (KAB) Greatest American Cleanup initiative. In fact, Bamberg County was the first South Carolina county to do so.
The national Greatest American Cleanup campaign aims to honor the United States’ 250th birthday, which will occur on July 4, 2026, by engaging 25,000 communities and removing 25 billion pieces of litter across the nation. Bamberg County and Keep Bamberg County Beautiful (KBCB) have committed to the following on an annual basis:
According to the declaration, signed by Bamberg County Council Chairman Evert Comer, Jr., by supporting KAB’s Greatest American Cleanup campaign, “We intend to make Bamberg County a shining example of environmental stewardship and community engagement as we work together to make our community cleaner, greener, and more beautiful for generations to come.”
KBCB Director Alisha Moore stated, “We are thrilled to join KAB’s Greatest American Cleanup initiative and lead the charge to enhance our community’s natural beauty. With a signed declaration of support from Bamberg County Council and Administration, I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to unite our citizens in this collective effort for a cleaner, greener future.”
