Bamberg, South Carolina (January 2018) – Bamberg native, AJ Cann, is stirring up some serious hometown pride in Bamberg County. After their win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 14, the Jacksonville Jaguars play the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game on January 21.
AJ Cann, a graduate of Bamberg Ehrhardt High School and the University of South Carolina, plays on Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line. Cann was the highest drafted player by the Jaguars from USC and emerged as a starter for the Jaguars in Week 4 of the 2015 season. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 10-6 in the 2017-2018 NFL season.
Trent Kinard, Bamberg County Council Vice Chairman issued this statement about AJ Cann, “AJ grew up in my district, my wife taught him in school, and we have known AJ and his family all our lives. I am so excited for him getting a big win over the Steelers and advancing to the AFC Championship game. I can’t say enough about the type of man that he is; he is so humble and caring about Bamberg. I see it when he comes home, he interacts with everyone at games, and he is still the fine young man he was growing up. The spotlight hasn’t changed him one bit. I want the kids of Bamberg County to look at AJ and realize that if you work hard, you can do anything, be it in athletics, academics, or whatever they desire. AJ is living proof that hard work pays off.”
