Re: Bamberg County Primary Election Audit Finds Zero Discrepancies
Bamberg, South Carolina (June 2024) – Congratulations to Bamberg County Voter Registration and Election Commission Executive Director Athena Moorer and her team for successfully executing the June 11 Primary Election! Clear Ballot, a provider of election technology in 13 states, audited Bamberg’s 2024 Primary Election and found zero discrepancies.
According to Ms. Moorer, “The SC Election Commission hired Clear Ballot to perform an independent audit of each county. After each statewide primary and general election, I'm required to upload my election results and ballot images securely to Clear Ballot. Clear Ballot then compares the ballot images and results to ensure it all matches with no discrepancies. It is a very thorough audit. The audit is to ensure all election results were tabulated and reported accurately, which means each ballot card cast and each vote cast for each candidate in Bamberg County was reported accurately. This independent audit is one of the ways we promote overall election integrity. We look forward to another zero discrepancy audit for the upcoming General Election in November!”
Bamberg County Council Chairman Evert Comer, Jr. shared Ms. Moorer’s enthusiasm about this clean audit, stating, “There is nothing more sacred than the right to vote and make our voices heard, so it is imperative that we have confidence in the system. This audit clearly demonstrates the excellent work of our local Election Commission and their commitment to fair and accurate elections. Congratulations on a job well done.”
“Election integrity is essential to voter confidence and to our democracy. I am proud of the Bamberg County Election Commission and am certain they will again perform with excellence in November,” said County Administrator Joey Preston.
