Bamberg, South Carolina (December 2022) – On November 22, 2022, Bamberg County was awarded a grant in the amount of $19,330.34 from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Development Fund for Bamberg Veterans Park.

County Council Chairman Spencer Donaldson expressed much pride in the fact that Veterans Park is the new home for the annual tree lighting and said, “Bamberg Veterans Park serves as a beacon of honor to all our Veterans and a source of pride for Bamberg County residents. What was once an eyesore is now a beautiful venue for our citizens to enjoy.”

At the Christmas Tree Lighting, Councilman Evert Comer, Jr. thanked all of those who have partnered to make Veterans Park a reality and said there is no denying that “Bamberg County and the City of Bamberg are on the move.” County Administrator Joey Preston said he cannot express how grateful he is for this grant and this opportunity to spotlight our veterans. He also said, “This would not have been possible without the support of Representative Justin Bamberg and Senator Brad Hutto for which we are so thankful.”
