Re: FEMA Disaster Recovery Center to Reopen for the Second Time This Month
Bamberg, South Carolina (November 2024) – While many Bamberg County residents are still reeling from this year’s tumultuous storm activity, the Bamberg County Emergency Management Division (EMD) has once again partnered with FEMA to reopen a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Bamberg County Library. This DRC will operate from Friday, November 29, 8 a.m. until Thursday, December 12, 7 p.m. The center hours will be Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are temporary offices that provide support to impacted areas and communities after natural disasters. FEMA representatives will be on-site to answer questions and assist citizens with the application and submission process. Other disaster support partners, such as the Small Business Administration and the Red Cross, may also be present to provide helpful information.
According to Bamberg County Emergency Management Director Tiffany Kemmerlin, “We are grateful to FEMA for sending their representatives to Bamberg County for the second time this month and encourage Bamberg County property owners who were adversely impacted by Hurricane Helene to take advantage of this opportunity to potentially get FEMA assistance.”
County Administrator Joey Preston stated, “This has been an unprecedented year for natural disasters in Bamberg County, and we cannot thank Tiffany and our EMD team enough for the long hours they have contributed to ensuring our residents have access to valuable resources to help them recover from these storms. We are also grateful to FEMA and SCEMD for their partnership and support.”
