Bamberg, South Carolina (April 2025) – In a proud and historic moment for the City of Bamberg, Corey Ramsey was officially sworn in as the youngest Mayor in the city’s history during a special outdoor ceremony held yesterday in front of the J. Virgil Hicks City Hall building. Surrounded by a sizeable and spirited crowd of supporters, dignitaries, and community leaders, Mayor Ramsey pledged his commitment to a new era of progress, collaboration, and community-centered leadership.

Joining Mayor Ramsey in taking the oath of office were newly elected City Council members Bobbi Bunch, Joyce Searson, and Carey Bunch. This new leadership team signals a refreshed vision for the City of Bamberg and its future.

The occasion drew notable attendance from across the county, including distinguished Bamberg County elected officials: County Council Chairwoman Sharon Hammond, Vice Chairman Larry Haynes, and Councilmembers Evert Comer Jr. and Spencer Donaldson. Members of the Bamberg County Administration, Sheriff Kenneth Bamberg, and a host of former City Council members were also present to witness the historic event. Mayor Ramsey was supported by his wife, children, extended family, and church family, whose presence added to the day's deeply personal and community-rooted atmosphere.

Mayor Ramsey received an official endorsement from former Mayor Nancy Foster, whose legacy of public service was warmly acknowledged. He also garnered the support of Representative Justin Bamberg, reinforcing the strong alignment between local and state leadership.

Bamberg County Administrator Joey Preston applauded the moment, stating:
