Bamberg, South Carolina (April 2023) – On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Bamberg County Council Chairman Dr. Jonathan Goodman, County Council members, and County Administrator Joey Preston met with community leaders and interested citizens to discuss the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
Consumer Education and Outreach Specialist Anthony Butler explained the program incentives and application process to an audience eager to learn how they may save $30 per month on broadband internet services and $100 towards a computer.
Currently, over 16 million households across the United States participate in ACP, including 33% of those in Bamberg County. However, approximately 1,677 eligible Bamberg County households are not currently receiving this benefit.
(Please see the attached eligibility requirements and application, and visit affordableconnectivity.gov for more information.)
Those requiring assistance with application completion should call or visit the Bamberg County Office on Aging:
803-245-3021, 498 Log Branch Rd. Bamberg, SC 29003
We strongly encourage all eligible Bamberg County citizens to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. The additional funds could significantly and positively impact some households and help mitigate the increased cost of living.
Chairman Goodman said he and the entire Bamberg County Council are grateful to Mr. Butler and the FCC for sharing this important information that will “help the good people of Bamberg better afford broadband internet, which is essential to every household.”
