Re: Project Lightning to Invest Over $35M and Bring 250 Jobs to Bamberg
Bamberg, South Carolina (May, 2024) – During their next meeting on Monday, May 6 at 6 p.m., Bamberg County Council will vote to adopt an inducement resolution for preliminary approval of a 30-year fee in lieu of tax (FILOT) agreement as an incentive to bring a manufacturing plant to Bamberg County. “Project Lightning” will be located in Bamberg County at Crossroads Industrial Park. They will invest more than $35 million and add 250 higher-paying, full-time jobs to the region. The first reading of a corresponding ordinance will also occur during Monday night’s meeting.
Bamberg County Chairman Evert Comer, Jr. said he fully supports and appreciates Project Lightning’s plans to come to Bamberg when “they could have chosen any other place in the country to set up shop. This is incredible news for Bamberg County! We have suffered many setbacks, most recently due to the tornado, but Bamberg County is resilient. Bamberg County Council will continue to work to find solutions that will improve the quality of life for all our citizens.”
“Project Lightning’s investment in Bamberg County will significantly and positively impact the lives of our citizens and the community at large. Not only will we have 250 more jobs at the manufacturing facility itself, but this investment also means more potential commercial development, such as retail establishments and other businesses. We are grateful for this opportunity to boost Bamberg County’s economy and morale,” stated County Administrator Joey Preston.
