PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that Bamberg County, led by its governing body, the Bamberg County Council, will hold a public hearing on June 6, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. or thereafter in conjunction with a regular meeting of Bamberg County Council to give consideration to and reading of a Bamberg County ordinance. The ordinance calls for a referendum in Bamberg County which, if successful, will authorize the South Carolina Department of Revenue to issue temporary permits to allow for the possession, sale, and consumption of alcoholic liquors by the drink to bona fide nonprofit organizations and business establishments authorized to be licensed for consumption-on-premises sales and to allow the sale of beer and wine at permitted off-premises locations without regard to the days or hours of sale, all in Bamberg County, and other matters related thereto. The County Council meeting on June 6, 2022 will occur in either of two possible ways, and public notice is hereby given of the possibility of and procedures for both ways: 1) IF at all possible, considering all factors including, without limitation, medical and safety concerns, the County Council meeting on June 6, 2022 will be held in person in the Council Chambers of Bamberg County Council, in the Bamberg County Courthouse Annex – Isaiah Odom Building, at 6:00 pm on June 6, 2022. Anyone wishing to speak to or be heard concerning the proposed ordinance and referendum should attend such meeting and will be given that opportunity; or 2) IF it is not possible, considering all factors including, without limitation, medical and safety concerns, to hold the County Council meeting on June 6, 2022 at 6:00 pm in person, then that meeting will be conducted electronically, upon due notice, by utilizing electronic meeting technology, and the proposed ordinance in question will be considered and discussed, and the public hearing thereon will all be available for all to see and hear through such electronic means, and a means will be provided for anyone having any input for the public hearing on the proposed ordinance, or questions regarding the proposed referendum called for by the ordinance, or any other part of the County Council meeting proposed for public hearing, to make such comments or ask such questions electronically, to be read aloud, and responded to as necessary, during the meeting. A copy of the proposed ordinance in question will be posted on the County website, online, for anyone interested to review in advance of the public hearing.
