Savannah River Mission Completion Donates $10K to Denmark Technical College for STEM Scholarships

Savannah River Mission Completion donated $10,000 to Denmark Technical College (DTC) for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) scholarships.

SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson presented the check to DTC President and CEO Dr. Willie L. Todd Jr. DTC is the only historically black technical college in South Carolina, focusing on technical career training, associate degrees, and a four-year college transfer program.

According to Olson, the donation is expected to encourage students to continue their studies in STEM and prepare them for work at SRS or other places.

“Savannah River Mission Completion and DTC have partnered during the past few years,” Olson said. “We want DTC students to come to work for us. That is why SRMC views this investment as another opportunity to promote and encourage STEM degrees that could lead to prospective careers with SRMC.”

According to Todd, the college appreciates SRMCs benevolence and commitment to helping DTC attract students by offering STEM scholarships.

“The collaboration between Denmark Tech and SRMC has become a proud tradition,” Todd said. “SRMC's generous contributions toward STEM scholarships help us to reach students that need financial assistance to realize their educational goals and allow us to compete with other academic institutions for scholars with a high aptitude for STEM-related careers so we can continue forging onward to fill the talent pipeline."
