Bamberg, South Carolina (August 2017) –On Friday, August 11, 2017, United States Senator Lindsey Graham visited Bamberg County for a round table discussion with his constituents. Hosted in Bamberg County Council Chambers in the new Bamberg County Courthouse Annex, approximately 50 residents attended to ask questions and learn from Senator Graham.
Senator Graham’s visit to Bamberg County was part of his initiative to communicate with residents of rural South Carolina. Bamberg County Administrator, Joey Preston, commenced the round table discussion by welcoming Senator Graham and introducing Bamberg County Council members in attendance: Chairman Evert Comer, Jr., Rev. Isaiah Odom, Sharon Hammond, and Trent Kinard. Mr. Preston then invited everyone in attendance to introduce themselves and identify their town of residence.
After introductions, Senator Graham asked each local government representative to identify one or two projects or needs that would benefit from his support. Following the local government discussion, questions were accepted from the audience. Senator Graham concluded the round table with a discussion of current issues in national politics including health insurance reform, social security reform, and national security issues, specifically the recent developments with North Korea.
“It was an honor to host U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham in Bamberg County,” said County Council Chairman, Evert Comer, Jr. “The round table discussion was productive and informative. I appreciate that Senator Graham asked for local input and offered ideas for how he can assist us in Bamberg County.”
Senator Graham’s visit to Bamberg County lasted over an hour before he left for additional meetings in Barnwell and Saluda Counties.
