Bamberg, South Carolina (January 7, 2025) — In a momentous and inspiring ceremony held today at 3:00 PM in the Bamberg County Courthouse Annex Council Chambers, Kenneth Bamberg was officially sworn in as the Sheriff of Bamberg County. The honorable Jannie Johnson, Bamberg County Clerk of Court, presided over the ceremony, which was attended by Sheriff Bamberg’s family, staff, and esteemed members of the community, including South Carolina District 90 Representative Justin Bamberg.

The ceremony also celebrated the promotion of several outstanding officers within the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Edward Becerra was promoted to Corporal. Deputy Shauntina Benson—known for her exceptional advocacy in the RUOK program—was promoted to Sergeant, and Lieutenant Allen Cook earned the title of Captain. Each officer’s promotion highlights the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Bamberg shared heartfelt words of gratitude for his team during his address. “We are all one team, collectively one unit who works extremely well together because everyone does their part,” said Sheriff Bamberg. “Our success is built on the efforts of all departments, including our dispatchers and the entire staff.” Sheriff Bamberg’s statement reflects the unity and collaboration that defines his leadership style.

Adding to the day’s significance, Clerk of Court Jannie Johnson also swore in all deputy staff members, who signed a solemn declaration of service to the citizens of Bamberg County. This powerful act underscored the department’s unwavering commitment to public safety and community service.
